”These days I see more of a path toward what I want to do and what I feel like I'm capable of doing. I know what it takes now to accomplish my goals.” – Josh Duhamel
Brazil. Beautiful women, pristine beaches, a friendly, open culture. Unfortunately, paradise is not always what it seems, even when a shirtless IMTA alum, hunk Josh Duhamel, is along for the ride.
“Turistas” is a tense, unsettling thriller centering around a diverse group of young adventure travelers. Alex (Duhamel) is accompanying his sister Bea (Olivia Wilde) and her best friend Amy (Beau Garrett) for their first time abroad – young Americans who have come to exotic Brazil for fun, adventure and the promise of foreign pleasures. On a rickety bus rocketing up a twisting mountain road, they meet the beautiful Pru (Melissa George), who speaks the native language Portuguese, and Finn and Liam (Desmond Askew and Max Brown), in Brazil for the sole purpose of experiencing the beautiful Brazilian women they've heard so much about first hand.
After a terrifying bus accident maroons them in a remote Brazilian beach town, the vacationers slowly discover that the white sand beaches and lush jungles are concealing a darker, unsettling secret. They soon come to realize that they are stranded somewhere with something much more dangerous than they could have imagined.
While his early credits were on television in the Emmy-winning role of Leo on “All My Children” and a guest starring role on the critically acclaimed NBC series “Ed,” the success of the feature “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!” proved the sexy Duhamel had drawing power at the box office. Further success on the hit series “Las Vegas” has added to Duhamel’s ascending Hollywood star, leading to a starring role alongside Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson and Jon Voight in the hugely anticipated DreamWorks Pictures “Transformers,” scheduled for release on July 4th of next year.
Cover model on the current issue of Men’s Health, Duhamel competed at IMTA New York 1997, where he won Male Model of the Year. In 2004 he was named to People Magazine's 2004 list of Most Beautiful People, and was recently named one of People’s 2006 Sexiest Men Alive, sharing the honor with fellow IMTA alum Ashton Kutcher. Why People Magazine chose him? He's modest. “When I have to be shirtless, I play it as goofy as I can. I'm really not that guy.”
